Like many, my daughter liked the looks of the gown Taylor Swift wore in "Love Story." We began searching for such a dress.

We watched the video several times, looked online for pictures, and for others who had or who were also wanting to sew this dress. That proved to be rather difficult.

We needed a more modest look which included sleeves and a little higher neckline. I have pictures that show with and without the sleeves.

We needed a pattern. Parts of several patterns had to be used. It was quite a search to find them.

It is a two piece gown. Long flowing skirt, although we chose not to make it as long as the original. There are many layers. The front inset is of white floral/scroll instead of the gold floral Swift has in hers. Both are available. It is hard to see in the photo because it is white. The picture on the right does not have the crinoline underneath. The back view does. We found that the crinoline slip really added body to it. It had to have layers.

The inset is the same on the corset. The ties are in the back so the front is very much like the original. We were able to match the fabric fairly well with the original and is available if you know where to look. Swift had grommets and we choose fabric instead. It is a beautiful gown and we were very pleased and excited that it turned out so well!

The indoor pictures do not have any embellishments sewn on it as yet...those came later. You can also see that we raised the neckline as well. It can be done either way. Also, Swift had a dropped sleeve (or sleeve band), that would be simple to do.

It could be used not only for a wedding gown but for any formal event.
